Most widely known as the ill-fated Barb on Stranger Things, Shannon Purser has been carving out a place for herself in teen-centric television with roles on Riverdale and Rise.

This September, she’ll be moving into center stage with a starring role in Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, a high school dramedy of romance and mistaken identity.

With the tagline “High school is hard. Dating is harder. But finding yourself? That’s the hardest,” Netflix is putting a rather cliched spin on what looks to be an extraordinary little film.

You can never truly tell from a trailer, but this looks for all the world like the movie I wish I had in high school. I may have teared up at the trailer. Yeah.

“Do you have any idea what it’s like to be a teenage girl and to look like this?”

This is the kind of story that has been appearing more and more often in YA novels but (for pretty obvious reasons having to do with Hollywood and beauty standards and argghhhh I hate everything) has been slower to come to the big screen.

“You. Are a Magnificent. Beast.”

All I want now to be blissfully happy is a Purser-led Eleanor and Park.

What did you think of the Sierra Burgess trailer? Am I the only one that thought at first it was going to be a movie about Sierra Boggess?
